What is the Sirtfood Diet? – and how you can keep your chocolate and red wine

I have been asked recently, what is the sirtfood diet? This is quite surprising to me really as I would consider it a celebrity diet if any diet could be called that. It seems to be the most famous diet which a lot of people have never heard of, but don’t worry you can keep your chocolate and red wine. 🙂

With huge celebrities like singer Adele, world boxing champion David Haye, socialite Pippa Middleton and Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie all reportedly following the diet, it’s odd that a large number of people don’t really know much about it. Well, now we can find out what is the sirtfood diet? – and how you can keep your chocolate and red wine.

What is the Sirtfood Diet?

Developed by nutritionists Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten, the sirtfood diet not only helps to lose weight but to also help boost energy levels naturally. How the sirtfood diet does this is by using sirtuin activators in certain foods to access the body’s ‘skinny gene’. This is the same gene that is activated when you work out or exercise.

What does someone on the diet actually have to do? Well, there are two main phases. The first phase consists of restricting calories to 1000kcal for three days. This involves drinking three sirtfood green juices and one real sirtfood meal a day. Don’t worry, I will go over some of the special foods and where you can get recipes later.

For days four to seven, the diet is not as strict and users get a welcome meal boost. The calorie limit for these days is raised to 1500kcal. Also, users have two sirtfood green juices per day and have their meals doubled to two a day.

The second main phase is the heart of the diet, this is where your weight goes down steadily and your energy levels increase. Now you are allowed 3 sirtfood meals a day, plus a green juice. This phase lasts 14 days. The list of sirtfood diet foods for the meals are all chosen because of their health benefit potential and are amongst the best foods you can eat.

You are also allowed sirtfood snacks, including chocolate, as long as it’s dark chocolate with at least 85 percent cocoa solids.

Sirtfood Diet Foods

The sirtfood diet foods list is a very strict list and everything on the list is chosen for it’s ability to produce a higher level of sirtuins, a group of proteins that regulate several functions in the body.
